25 Schools Nationwide to Receive ‘Get Kids Cooking’ Grants Supporting Hands-On Nutrition Learning
The Sprouts Healthy Communities Foundation has announced the award of $250,000 in grants to help 25 schools across the United States implement youth cooking and nutrition education programs. This initiative, titled ‘Get Kids Cooking’, will benefit an estimated 7,000 students, introducing them to essential life skills through healthy cooking.
Real-Life Learning Through Cooking
According to Lyndsey Waugh, Executive Director of the Foundation, these programs offer more than just cooking skills.
“Hands-on experiences preparing fresh meals help kids build real skills and a lasting connection with healthy food,” she said.
These lessons also bring math, science, and problem-solving to life, making school learning more interactive and fun.
Nationwide Participation From Over 1,300 Nominations
The 25 schools were selected from more than 1,300 nominations submitted by Sprouts customers during a nationwide contest held in January. Each winning school receives a $10,000 grant, which includes:
- A mobile cooking cart
- Kitchen appliances and essentials
- Classroom-friendly recipes
- Sprouts gift cards for fresh ingredients
- A stipend for educators

“This grant gives our school the extra boost we need to offer regular cooking experiences to all 450 students. It’s truly a dream come true.”
