The INDIA bloc, a group of opposition parties including the RJD, Congress, Left parties, and VIP, plans to start seat-sharing discussions in June. The talks will begin once block-level coordination committees are in place.
A senior Congress leader said the parties want to decide seat shares early so they can start joint campaigning.
“We lost the majority last time because we delayed seat distribution and lacked local coordination,” said a former RJD MLA.
Local Committees Already Formed
On May 18, the alliance formed district-level coordination committees. These include key local leaders from each party.
RJD spokesperson Bhai Birendra explained:
“Strong local leaders in these panels help ensure better voter turnout during elections.”
State-Level Talks to Be Led by Tejashwi Yadav
Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, the Leader of the Opposition in Bihar, will head the state-level coordination committee in Patna. The first seat-sharing talks will start here. After that, senior leaders like Rahul Gandhi and Dipankar Bhattacharya will join the talks along with other CPI and CPI(M) leaders.
A member of CPI(ML) said the alliance will study each seat closely before making any decisions.
“We want to avoid mistakes from the last election.”
Learning From the 2020 Elections
In 2020, the RJD contested 144 seats and won 75. The Congress won 19 of 70 seats, and the Left parties (CPI(ML), CPI, CPI(M)) won a total of 16 seats.
Despite getting nearly the same number of votes as the NDA, the Grand Alliance missed the majority by only 12,700 votes.
Goal for 2025: Stronger Unity and Early Planning
This time, the INDIA bloc wants to act early. With better planning, coordination, and unified leadership, the alliance hopes to win more seats in the 2025 Bihar elections.
